1974 Biker Storks chopper from Disneyland in California. This bike is a totally custom rolling mini chopper made from real panhead, motorcycle, and bicycle parts. The frame and fork and custom and metal. The motor case, tank and seat and hand carved wood. We bought this for my daughter until we realized this is a major piece or Disney, American, motorcycle history. The Biker Storks are two anthropomorphic storks. In the “Modern Times” sequence of the attraction, the two would sing the song “Twistin’ USA”. Development History-The Biker Stork characters were created for the America Sings attraction at Disneyland in the Tomorrowland section, where they were placed in the “Modern Times” sequence where they sing the song “Twistin’ USA”, which opened on June 29, 1974. However, America Sings closed on April 10, 1988 in order to retheme the attraction to Innoventions, with most of the animatronics moved to Splash Mountain at the Critter Country section at Disneyland. However, the Biker Stork animatronics were not moved to Splash Mountain for unknown reasons. Role in the attraction-The Bikers Stork was featured during the former attraction’s final act, “Modern Times”, where they drove around on their motorcycle while singing the song, “Twistin’ USA”. They and the other singers take part in the finale “Joy to the World” just before the show ends. The photos in the post are from the ride and from the concept artwork. eBay I have for sale a VERY RARE 1961 Ludwig Von Drake Automaton Store Display created by Silvestri Art Mfg Co. which was in business from 1956 - 2004. This is a pretty large piece. It stands a total of 38", including the base it's afixed to. Von Drake himself is 25 1/2" tall. The base measures 12" high and 14" across. All the mechanics are located in the base. This piece, I would guess, weighs around 40 pounds, and is rather large, so shipping could be a little costly.As I believe the pictures will show, this automaton is in really good condition. The gentleman I purchased it from sometime back said he had purchased it from a gentleman who had purchased it years before, only to put it in a closet for about 20 years with a garbage bag over it. After being stored for years it was a little slow moving, but with a little oiling it moves like I would think it should.I took a few close ups of it to show, there is some wear, especially to the feet. Also, the jacket has a little wear, especially around the collar, which I took a close up of. I also took a video, which I hope comes out ok. His head an arms move back and forth as though he's directing a band. The music he's holding in his hand is entitled "The Spectrum Song" He accompanied Walt Disney in introducing Spectrum in 1961. I also have 3 inspection cards that came with him. The writing on them is a little faint, and wouldn't show up very well in a picture, so they've been copied so the writing could be highlighted, so as to not disturb the originals. The 3 cards on the right are all on one sheet of paper, and are the copies. The 3 cards on the left are the originals. They indicate the automaton was inspected in October '64 by "MS". I'm thinking that is Marc Silvestri. They identify it as "Band Leader Von Drake" He is basically made of like a Very hard PVC, or something similar. This is the Disney Song of the South 60th Anniversary Big Figure featuring Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox, and Brer Bear, released around 2006 and designed by Jody Daily & Kevin Kidney. It has been sitting in a display case for several years and may be a little dusty in hard to reach places, and has minor wear on the underside. My roommate and I purchased these at the theme park and had it shipped home. Included in the auction is the COA, assembly instructions, and the original box (the box has some wear). Very rare to find one of these figures with all these original components included, and of the 8 or so that I've seen come up on eBay over the years, half were broken. Finding one that is not broken is almost impossible nowadays. This is a museum-quality display piece.Weighs about 12 pounds, and is roughly 14" height, 10" width, 20" length. Displayed in a smoke free home, excellent condition. No chips, cracks, breaks, or other damage noted. A few manufacturing defects I'll point out - some paint inconsistencies a slight blemish in the finish on a small spot on the base, and a visible seam in the base where they glued the two pieces of wood together to created a base sturdy enough to support the figures. These are all pretty minor but I just want to make sure buyers are aware.
